MaCuDE is a collaborative effort among faculty and deans at more than 100 business schools, who recognize that their curricula must include more of an analytical and digital emphasis in order to ensure their universities remain value creators for students and alumni.

Structure

The changes in business education necessitated by the technological revolution are impacting all areas of business education. For this reason, MaCuDE participants are focused on addressing the needs of all the key business disciplines – accounting; finance; marketing; management; information systems; analytics and operations; strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship; cybersecurity; and future of learning and work – each of which is addressed through its own task force.

Each task force is developing a roadmap for business education changes that address the emerging needs of industry in their assigned discipline, segmented by academic programs — undergraduate, MBA, specialty master’s and executive. The new topics, courses and skills development exercises these groups develop will be integrated with traditional disciplinary courses and curricula to create a truly future-oriented business education.

The Future of Work and Future of Learning task force is an exception in that it focuses on the development of the human capabilities and skills needed in a world where cognitive work is shared between humans and machines, and where learning will have to be continuous and through various forms. In that sense, the outcomes of this task force are applicable to all the other task forces.

The work of the consortium is overseen and coordinated by the steering committee, which offers guidance on how to perform the work while supporting the consortium to ensure all major milestones are met. The steering committee also promotes ongoing communication among the task forces to ensure they benefit from lessons learned from, and insights provided by, other groups.
